The “grandma’s room” is characterized by its star vault with front at sight. In a corner, closed behind a grating you can enjoy the view of an old cistern that goes down until the hypogeum oil mill. On a very typical wall composed by a mix of bricks and stones lays down a liberty style bed dated back to the end of 1800.
It’s from the particular form of this bed that this room takes its name. It reflects the typical bed used by our Salentine grandparents. It has got tall and impressive heads made by walnut embellished by a floral high relief. At its sides there are two bedside tables of the same style: tall, with its level made by marble where they usually put a sacred photograph.

The wardrobe has been built exploiting a niche, long as a whole wall of the room, to which is a frame a wonderful arch of typical Salentine architecture. In ancient times houses were full of these niches because, even if they were poor of furniture, our grandparents exploited the depth of the walls to create useful spaces where to put pots, lanterns, clothes, etc..
The room has got a bathroom with a star vault painted in lime exactly like our grandparents used to do. Its furniture reflects that of the room, very poor and reduced to the basic things. Doors are made of wood painted in the typical colours of the old houses. The sheets are embroidered and also linen and the other accessories.
